Post-Birthday Musings
I didn’t want to give everyone another “it’s my birthday and here’s what I’ve learned” post on Facebook, but this is my own website and my birthday was four days ago, so I’m gonna retroactively do it here. Proceed with caution.
I feel like I must acknowledge how wild being 22 was. My birthday was about three weeks before everything shut down, so almost immediately, I knew 22 would be quite different. I moved out of my first post-college apartment; met someone special on a dating app (which, if you know me, is VERY out of character) and moved in with him; decided to start studying for the LSAT and began my journey as a future lawyer (???); lost/regained my job multiple times as restrictions changed, and — of course — lived through a pandemic.
I feel so grateful for the love that has surrounded me in this crazy time, and for my good fortune in staying healthy and safe amidst the chaos. I learned so much about myself and what’s truly important to me over this past year, and though it was an incredibly valuable experience that will undoubtedly affect the course of the rest of my life, I can only hope that 23 is not nearly as eventful. One girl can only take so much change.
